2012 | Pakistan Labour Market Assessment
Description: MEDA was hired by Aga Khan Foundation Canada to provide research and advisory services on their Enhancing Employability and Leadership for Youth (EELY) project. EELY recognizes that youth have a critical role to play in determining the future direction of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, a remote but strategically important region of Pakistan and Central Asia. The program addressed the key challenges for youth development in the region: employability and participation as leaders in civic life. By focusing on these areas, young people are expected to improve their prospects, sense of equality and ultimately become productive and engaged members of society.
MEDA’s role on the EELY project was twofold: to help develop and streamline the project’s monitoring and evaluation system to ensure it captured meaningful data, particularly on youth; and to gather baseline data on youth, the labour market, employers and skills providers in the region.
- Labour Market Assessment Report outlining youth aspirations, employer needs, training opportunities and household composition and economic engagement.
- Toolkit on conducting market research and designing program interventions to incorporate youth into the labour force.
