Juma Ongera is MEDA’s Country Director in Kenya. He is responsible for managing the LEGEND project and providing managerial support to three other projects in Kenya.
Juma is an experienced international development professional with over 12 years of experience in Sustainable Development and Livelihood Projects. He has expertise in financial inclusion, gender equality, commercial banking, microfinance, renewable energy, sustainable farming, social impact investments, SME business development services, and agribusiness in Eastern and Southern Africa.
He is also an experienced program director and manager of major donor funds in the non-profit sector, implementing grants and debt-funded programs from foreign government aid agencies. Some of these organizations include the U.S. Agency for International Development, Department for International Development (UK), The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Global Affairs Canada, and the European Union.
Juma has a master’s degree in Science in Finance & Law from the Free University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
