With encouragement and support from MEDA’s Gender Equality, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (GDEI) Committee, MEDA is pleased to announce that we have become a signatory of Cooperation Canada’s Anti-Racism Framework and a member of its working group. MEDA’s commitment to the framework is also aligned with its new strategic plan here

The framework outlines ways that each organization can address racism, from identifying racial bias in our work to shifting institutional structures and processes.     

The Framework will:   

  • Identify ways in which employees experience racism in the workplace and respond with meaningful changes;
  • Recognize and eliminate racism in storytelling, sharing knowledge, and use our voices to support an anti-racist agenda;
  • Provide accessible, quality professional development opportunities for staff and leadership on anti-racism.

As a member of the working group, MEDA will also support its fellow signatory organizations with tools and best practices for implementing the core principles of the Framework. By working with governments, citizens, and community groups, and measuring our performance, we are optimistic that we can make a difference.  

The time to act is now: we are committed to working with our partners to acknowledge racism in our sector and be a part of the solution.
