Waterloo, ON, January 30, 2020 – MEDA is pleased to announce the appointment of Orvie Bowman as Chief Financial and Investment Officer (CFIO). The CFIO is a member of MEDA’s Executive Leadership Team and provides strategic leadership to achieve MEDA’s financial, investment and legal goals.

Upon being offered the role with MEDA, Orvie expressed that he is, “honoured and thrilled to join the great team at MEDA” and that he is, “energized by MEDA’s mission and vision to create, sustain and innovate.”

Orvie Bowman is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Allianz Global Assistance Canada. Prior to that he held senior level roles in both private and nonprofit sector organizations, including Sun Life Financial, Schlegel Villages and Manulife.

Orvie holds the professional designations of Certified General Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant and he graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration with Honours: Accounting and Information Technology Major.

In Orvie’s career, he has been a transformational partner on leadership teams, and championed strategic plans to generate growth. He has a strong understanding of due diligence and regulatory environments and is excited about contributing to MEDA’s work in international economic development.
