MEDA Announces new Senior Vice President, Global Programs

MEDA is pleased to announce Derek Cameron as our new Senior Vice President, Global Programs! 

Derek Cameron

Derek Cameron joins MEDA with over 15 years of leadership, business development, and project management experience. His work has focused on  applying private sector solutions to development challenges, including MSMEs, co-operative enterprises, agricultural marketing and value chains, youth livelihoods, microfinance and microinsurance, and gender and inclusion. He has worked with Canada World Youth, Youth Challenge International, the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada, the Coady International Institute at St Francis Xavier University, and Rooftops Canada. 

Derek believes that partnerships, strong local institutions, and peer-to-peer approaches are key to bringing about transformational development. He is inspired by MEDA’s commitments to innovation, collaboration to reach scale, and creating decent work in rural communities around the world. He has an MBA and an undergraduate degree in economics and community economic development. Derek is based in Ottawa, Ontario, beginning with MEDA on January 18, 2021.
