The seminar will include an overview of MEDA’s Mentorship and Volunteer program. This program aims to engage North American business owners and professionals who are interested in sharing their business expertise to MEDA clients worldwide. There is a tremendous thirst for business knowledge and expertise among the entrepreneurs whom we serve in the field. Likewise, there is a tremendous amount of business expertise among the MEDA support base in North America and these supporters frequently tell us how willing and anxious they are to help MEDA accomplish its mission. Kim Pityn serves as Chief Operations Officer for MEDA. Kim joined MEDA in 1990 and has worked in various capacities in the organization, including Vice President, International Operations and Director of Human Resources (2003-2010), and Project Director of the Rural Small Business Development Program in Haiti. Her work has taken her to more than 40 countries. Prior to joining MEDA, Kim worked as a Regional Manager with the Contact Human Resource Group. She has an Honours Business Degree from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario; a Human Resource Professional Association of Ontario designation; and a Certificate in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University.
Jodi Martin joined MEDA's Human Capital Department as a Volunteer Program Manager in August 2017. Jodi will support the development and the ongoing management of our volunteer, business mentorship and intern programs and provide additional capacity to MEDA's HC team.
Jodi has many years of experience in Human Resources, employee relations and business partner management. She worked for several years with TorStar Digital, supporting the employee experience and was responsible to create and manage an internship program across departments. Most recently, Jodi worked as a Human Resources Manager at Lindt and Sprungli for 4 years. Jodi completed her Honours BBA at Wilfred Laurier, specializing in Human Resources, and has her CHRP designation. Jodi has a strong alignment with MEDA’s values based approach to international development; she loves to travel and spent a year living and teaching children in Nicaragua.
