Why are we doing this?
What’s next? The question that always seems to get us dreaming about our next adventure. Well, it’s about that time, so we’ve decided to put our biking knowledge back to use. In July 2018, we’ll be biking from Canada to Mexico along the California Coast. It’s 2,780 km from border to border and will take us the month of July.
We always talked about whether we would do another bike trip after biking across Canada in the summer of 2015, and it was never really a question. We had fallen in love with cycle touring. The crisp air in the mornings, the long days of pedaling and the best part, all the people we met along the way. So, after a few years of working, it felt like time to get back on the bikes. This time along the West Coast, another area we are both eager to explore.
The main focus for our first ride, of course, was the women in the GROW project motivating us all along the way. The imprints they left on our hearts will never be forgotten, as they cheered us during the ride or the dances they shared with us when we visited their communities and as they continue to inspire us day in and day out with their hard work and motivation to create a beautiful life for their families.
Over the years, we have both found different but welcoming places in the MEDA family. So, when it came time to decide on the motivation for this trip, it felt like an obvious response to focus on the WAY project in Nigeria. As each chapter finds their passion for different projects, Sarah and I, work to find ways to support MEDA through adventures. We believe in the goodness of people all around the world and look to continue to make more connections both with us and the work of MEDA.
We hope you’ll follow us in this next adventure. It’s your support that gives us that extra strength at the end of each day. Thank you for your continued support!
