Project Name: Through the Garden Gate: Integrating Women into Sustainable Markets in Afghanistan

Project Goal: To support the efforts and build the capacity of public institutions and private citizens, primarily women, to improve living standards through enhanced participation in a more efficient and effective horticultural markets. MEDA, in partnership with the Afghan Women's Business Council (AWBC), mobilized communities and linked women that were affected by conflict into the horticultural industry through the use of innovative models, training techniques, improved market access and enhanced support service provision for kitchen garden crops.

Reach: Improved productivity for 2250 female farmers through training on appropriate technologies and techniques for both production and post-harvest handling; Supported approximately 3,000 female producers to access loans.
