On June 7, 2012, the 15th Annual MEDA Golf Classic will be held at the St. Boniface Golf Club in Winnipeg in support of the MEDA Golf Classic charity initiative and to help increase community awareness of MEDA International and the local and global projects it supports.  

We invite you to participate as a sponsor of this event and to also join us for a great day of golf!

With the help of our generous sponsors in past years, the MEDA Golf Classic has set up a Trust account through MEDA International’s Microfinance initiative.  Since inception, the Trust account has provided 333 loans totaling more than $225,000 to deserving individuals living in third world countries.

This year, funds raised will go to support Women in northern Ghana to bolster family food security, nutrition and incomes by growing soybeans and other crops under a major new MEDA initiative. The $20 million project, of which $18 million will come from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and $2 million from MEDA sources, is projected to begin in April. It aims to assist 20,000 women and their families over the next 6½ years. Using a value chain approach, MEDA will help women in the country’s upper west and northern regions to grow soybeans, link them with markets, and provide training on farm management at the micro level as well as household nutrition and managing family finances.
