Women Empowering Women with MEDA: Our First Meeting!

Welcome to Women Empowering Women (WEW) with MEDA, a women’s network for global good! WEW is a grassroots initiative led by women in Lancaster and Souderton and is an exciting opportunity to be a catalyst for positive change in our world. On behalf of MEDA staff and clients in more than 50 countries around the world, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to each of you. Thank you for your interest in our network!

If there is one thing we know to be true in this world it is this: if we desire a more peaceful, prosperous, and healthy world, providing access to opportunities for WOMEN is KEY. At our first Women Empowering Women with MEDA meetings we took a look at the state of women around the world and asked the question “why women?” ... why is it that empowering women is such a significant factor in the well-being and improvement of our world? Please see the attached resources to read more about the content of our first meeting!

Ladies at the first Women Empowering Women event in Souderton, PA start the "privilege" activity. Each woman was given a profile card describing a woman somewhere in the world. A series of questions were asked and, based on their profile, each woman took steps forward and backward to demonstrate the sort of challenges that women face around the world including: lack of education, job opportunities and cultural and social barriers to social and economic advancement.
