Interns get up close and personal

MEDA intern in Nicaragua Lauren Lallemand was the winner of this year's intern photo contest, which recognizes photos that creatively show the interns at work in the field. Here's Lauren's story:

"I was visiting all seven of the areas covered by the PRODUMER II project, interviewing women about their participation in the production of sesame. This picture was taken on the Isla de Ometepe, a large volcanic island in Lago de Nicaragua (Lake of Nicaragua), when interviewing Nubia Amparo Jiménez Chavarría.

Lauren's Interview

"I've never had so much trouble getting an answer from an interviewee before! Stone cold. They had to tie the cow down to keep him still. The credit should go to my fellow intern Heather Harden, who took the picture and sent it in on my behalf."
