US senator visits MEDA Tanzania

MEDA Tanzania staff members recently had a chance to show a US senator the Hati Punguzo project in action with a visit from Russ Feingold of Wisconsin.

Senator Feingold, pictured at centre (foreground), was particularly interested in children being weighed at the Mikindani regional health clinic in Mtwara on Dec. 22. Pregnant women attend the clinic for prenatal health care and are issued vouchers for the life-saving insecticide-treated mosquito nets that will protect them and their babies from the deadly disease-carrying insects.

The senator sits on the senate budget committee and chairs the African subcommittee of the US foreign relations committee.

His visit was preceded by that of three US congressmen.
