Christian author Philip Yancey headlines 2008 MEDA convention

Philip Yancey, the award-winning author of 16 books, including What's So Amazing About Grace, is just one of a great list of attractions for this year's annual convention, Business as a Calling: Dividends of Hope, being held Nov. 6-9 in Columbus, Ohio. Click here for more information.

MEDA president Allan Sauder and his wife, Donna, recently toured MEDA's new four-year project in Pakistan, Pathways & Pursestrings, to learn about the seedling, dairy and glass bangle industries, and to revisit the embroidery sector, which was the focus of a previous project, Behind the Veil. In BtV, MEDA successfully integrated thousands of women embroiderers into the market to bring them out of poverty. Now, working with local partners, P&P is scaling up and replicating that model in four sectors and across four geographic areas of the country – Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and North Western Frontier provinces.
"It was encouraging to see that despite the political and economic turmoil that Pakistan faces, thousands of women entrepreneurs and their families look to the future with new hope as a result of their earnings from the MEDA programs," said Allan.
