A small group hoping to grow a MEDA chapter in their area recently held a dinner to see if their idea would germinate.

Laura and Roger Thiessen of Leamington, ON, were key organizers of the Aug. 23 event, which attracted 60 people – out of 70 who had expressed interest in learning more about MEDA.
Abe Fehr, who hosted the dinner with his wife, Lisa, spoke about MEDA membership and the couple's experiences of MEDA tours, including a recent jaunt to Romania. MEDA tours provide members and other supporters a close-up view of MEDA's work and the opportunity to meet a few of the aspiring entrepreneurs involved in its projects.
The Thiessens and Fehrs hope for further events to inspire a Leamington area chapter.
Jon Unger Brandt, MEDA's vice president marketing and resource development, presented on MEDA activities and projects.
He also spoke about his journey to MEDA and his perspective and vision for MEDA at the Waterloo chapter's annual corn roast Aug. 22. It was an opportunity for many in the crowd of almost 100 people to meet Jon for the first time since joining MEDA in May.
The Waterloo group enjoyed great weather this year after shivering through an exceptionally cold and windy summer evening at last year's corn roast.
