MEDA is reaching out to the “YouTube” generation with its own channel on the popular international social networking site. MEDAdotorg will bring the message of giving hope to the poor to what is touted as “the world’s largest online video community.”
The new initiative fits with MEDA’s strategic direction to expand, revitalize and diversify its membership, with increased involvement of members under age 40.
“We expect it will feed the growing appetite for broader media exposure and expand MEDA’s visibility among the public at large,” said Ed Epp, MEDA vice president for resource development. “It could significantly alter MEDA’s current status as a well-kept secret. More importantly, though, it will provide exposure to the needs of the three million poor people that we serve and show how we are able to impact their lives.”
The site will feature MEDA’s catalogue of current and historical videos, giving viewers some perspective on both recent and past projects. Having non-profit status, it could also feature a link to a Google checkout for donations, in addition to pointing viewers to the MEDA Trust site.
