Treetops was launched in 2012 to invest in Romanian agribusiness opportunities that would benefit from EU grants and low cost debt funding. Focused on gaps in the agricultural value chain, the fund aims to benefit small and medium-sized farmers.

Impact

Investments to date include:

  • East Champion, the first industrial compost factory for mushrooms in Romania, which aims to provide compost at a substantially lower price than imported products. The plant could be operational in late 2015.
  •  Project Jupiter, which relates to financing the construction of a modern grain silo and cold storage facility near Bucharest. Construction is expected to take nine months, with a target commission date of September 2016.
