Leave a Legacy of Hope - Planned Giving
You can give hope to poor families around the world with a bequest to MEDA from your estate. Your legacy gift will keep working, long after you’re gone, to rid the world of poverty – one family at a time.
Why MEDA?
MEDA is a global leader in creating business solutions to poverty. For more than 50 years, MEDA and supporters like you have helped millions of families lift themselves out of poverty.
When you give the poor some credit through a bequest gift to MEDA, you help struggling entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, become more productive and earn more income to sustain their families for years to come. Your life-giving legacy helps them build a future – for themselves and their community.
Here’s how it works:
Your estate gift to MEDA is deposited into a special fund that invests in microfinance institutions and small companies in developing countries. These funds become short-term loans to entrepreneurs who have no other access to affordable credit. As they grow their businesses and earn more income, they can fix their homes, buy medicine, send their children to school and create new jobs for others. What’s more, as they repay their loans the money is recycled to other struggling entrepreneurs, so your gift keeps giving, over and over again.
You can make a lasting difference and give hope to families around the world for years to come. Give us a call for more information, or let us know if you’ve already made this kind of estate commitment to MEDA.
“With MEDA, we’re part of a group of like-minded people who appreciate MEDA’s business approach to help the poor. We like MEDA’s track record of sustainable, measurable results.
“Through field visits to Africa and other locations, we have met MEDA clients face to face, and they told us how their lives were improved through the MEDA programs. We want to include MEDA in our estate plans because it will help change more lives even after we’re gone.”
Helping future generations...
“We thought very carefully about including MEDA in our estate plans. What sets MEDA apart is their emphasis on creating sustainable solutions to poverty around the world.
“We wanted to give others a hand up, rather than a handout. We are pleased with our decision, and we encourage you to also include MEDA in your estate plans for its continued success in helping future generations. ”
Fazela – hope restored…
Fazela was ready. Ready for a hand from MEDA.
Fazela, 35, lives in Kabul, the capital of war-torn Afghanistan. Until MEDA came along, she struggled to feed and clothe her six children with earnings from her tiny poultry business.
Fazela’s eyes lit up when she heard about a microloan program. God, she said, had become merciful to her and had sent someone to help her. With a $200 loan she was able to improve her flock’s health (such as vaccinating against salmonella) to produce better and more marketable eggs for local shops.
Her business grew, and with her increased income Fazela can feed her children two good meals a day, give them new clothes, and tuck them into bed sheets at night.
