Play transports hundreds to Haiti: Power of theater

Iron_Will-36Hundreds of people joined MEDA in Waterloo, ON Mar 28 for a trip to Haiti created through the power of theater. MEDA was the title sponsor of Iron Will, an original stage play about Haiti, determination, and the power of friendship that transcends borders.

Iron Will takes the audience on a journey from a classroom in Canada to a village in Haiti, weaving a story that demonstrates not only the power of microfinance to change people’s lives and restore hope, but also the strength and courage of the Haitian people.

“Thanks to Scene Change and the excellent cast for sharing these glimpses of Haiti,” says Allan Sauder, MEDA president. “You deftly illustrated the trials and joys of working in this desperately poor but vibrant country.”

The play, written and produced by Lance Wright, was inspired by a desire to honor the joyful and resilient people of Haiti who face tremendous daily challenges.

“We can’t thank MEDA enough for their incredible support of Iron Will,” says Lance. “It’s been an honor to partner with them. Around the world, MEDA is quietly and faithfully bringing practical and effective solutions to those in need.”
