Update on Timing
As of 10 May 2010, we are still waiting to hear confirmation from CIDA on internship funding. We will not be accepting applications until after we are confirmed and ready to start recruitment. Tanzania National Voucher Scheme, Under Five Catch up Campaign


The project goal is to cover 80% of all children under five with a Long Lasting Insecticidal Net to reduce the incidence of malaria in Tanzania among infants and small children.  

Position – IT Development Intern

This internship will be best suited for someone with a degree in computer science, IT or related field. Familiarity with development concepts and principles would be an asset.

The primary objective is to review work to date and evaluate future options. Key tasks:  
  • Evaluate progress/effectiveness of SMS and PDA use in health data collection, as well as use of  GPS and GIS systems for ITN distribution
  • Work with staff to identify expansion/scale up opportunities
  • Plan and execute additional research in new IT technology
  • Prepare and develop workplan and materials that can be shared with partners    
Length of Assignment
The length of the work assignment in country is six months. Interns will participate in a one week orientation and training in Waterloo, Ontario and be required to debrief and report back to MEDA staff in Waterloo upon return to Canada. The debriefing will include exercises aimed to facilitate successful re-entry to Canada and ongoing job search training and support.
