MEDA’s
Microfinance Team is highly qualified to lead institutional capacity
building to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of microfinance
institutions.
MEDA is leading microfinance institutions through transition and
commercialization, to investment readiness. Sample consulting contracts
for technical assistance include the following:
Facilitate investment in the microfinance industry through joint management of the US$15 million private investment fund,
MicroVest.
Managed MEDA’s own start-up MFI, Chispa in Nicaragua,
through a tri-party merger to become the first commercial microfinance
bank in Nicaragua, now ProCredit (1998-2000).
Provide multi-year governance assistance and investment for the Caja Rural San Martin in Peru (2003-2005).
Managed Tanzanian rural/urban MFI through consolidation with the National Microfinance Bank of Tanzania (2002).
Managed MEDA’s rural MFI, REKO in Haiti, through a
consolidation with another institution to become the largest MFI in
Haiti, Fonkoze (2003-2004).
