Microfinance Technical Expertise
MEDA
first became active in microfinance because we believed that the "poor are bankable." Our goal was to show that poor people were
creditworthy. The large number of new microfinance institutions (MFIs)
that serve the poor has produced a new set of needs and challenges – no
longer can MFIs be small, donor-dependent operations, with limited
access to capital. If they are to succeed in their mission of providing
financial services to the poor, they need practical how-to advice and
training. MEDA's MF department specializes in the following areas:
Management Solutions
- Performance Management (risk, internal controls, audits)
- Human Resource Management (incentive systems, leadership, organizational structure, succession planning)
- Gender and Development
