Investment Fund Development Mission: to promote profitable direct investment in businesses and institutions that serve the poor.

Example: MicroVest, North America's first private equity investment fund, was created as a global intermediary to mobilize capital for microfinance "banks." MEDA is one of three partners. One of MicroVest's investments is in Fundacion Nieborowski, a microfinance institution that targets poorer entrepreneurs across Nicaragua. Leon Donato Munez is a client that has benefited from some of those loans. "My house now has concrete walls, a tile floor, a zinc roof and a separate kitchen. My family is healthy and I have been able to send my children to highschool. I can't thank Nieborowski enough."
